Highlights of 9 June 2025 Current Affairs

  • RBI cut CRR by 100 bps and repo rate by 50 bps to boost bank lending. This makes borrowing cheaper and helps improve liquidity in the economy.
  • 269 million Indians came out of extreme poverty between 2011 and 2023. The poverty rate dropped from 27.1% to just 5.3%, showing major improvement.
  • Gross FDI rose 14%, but net FDI slowed due to capital repatriation. FPI inflows also dropped as investors booked profits in the stock market.

  • UMEED portal launched to manage and geo-tag Waqf properties online. It aims to prevent misuse and improve use for public welfare.
  • BRICS Parliamentary Forum was held in Brazil to improve legislative ties. India will host the next session in 2026 to continue cooperation.
  • Canada invited India to the G7 Summit to discuss economic and global issues. This shows India’s growing role in international platforms.
  • India opened the world’s highest railway bridge on the Chenab and the Anji bridge. Both improve travel and strategic links in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Monetary Policy Committee now decides repo rates together, not just RBI Governor. It brings more transparency and fair decision-making.
