CLAT 2027 Details

The Consortium of NLUs issued the CLAT 2027 notification on 22 July 2026. Registration opened on 3 August 2026 and will remain open until 31 October 2026. The CLAT 2027 exam is scheduled for 6 December 2026, Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

The paper includes 120 objective-type questions for 120 marks. You earn 1 mark for each correct answer, while each incorrect answer results in a 0.25-mark deduction. For UG admission, you need 45% in Class 12. PG applicants need 50% in an LL.B. degree. There is no upper age limit for either programme.

What is CLAT 2027 Exam?

The full form of CLAT is Common Law Admission Test. It is a national-level entrance exam for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes at participating 27 National Law Universities (NLUs). The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts CLAT and manages registration, exam, and result-related processes.

CLAT 2027 Registration: Step-by-Step Guide 

For CLAT 2027 registration, you must enter your personal and qualifying-exam details. You also need to select 3 test cities and upload the applicable certificates.

CLAT 2027 Registration Fees Details

For the 2027 cycle, the registration fee is ₹4,000 for General/OBC candidates. You must pay the fee online, while bank transaction charges apply separately. CLAT Previous-year question papers cost an additional ₹500. The application fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable.

While registering for CLAT 2027, keep your photograph, signature, and required certificates ready. The photograph and signature must be 100–500 KB in JPEG format, while category and domicile certificates may require PDF files up to 1.5 MB.

CLAT 2027 Admit Card

The CLAT admit card is expected in the third week of November 2026. The Consortium will release it on the official website. It will mention your name, photograph, roll number, and application number. The CLAT 2027 hall ticket will also mention the exam date, time, test centre, and exam-day instructions. Check these details carefully after downloading the admit card. 

CLAT 2027 Answer Key

The Consortium releases the provisional CLAT answer key after the test. It is generally released on the exam day or the following day. You get a limited 2–3 day window to raise objections against questions. The Consortium reviews valid objections before releasing the final answer key. The final key is issued shortly before the official result. Use the final answer key when estimating your score.

CLAT 2027 Result

The CLAT result is expected in the third week of December 2026. You can access your scorecards through the Consortium’s official website. Details include the total marks obtained, overall rank, category-specific rank, and other relevant information. 

CLAT 2027 Tie-Breaking Criteria

If candidates secure equal marks, the tie-breaking process differs for UG and PG.

For CLAT UG 2027:

  1. Higher Legal Aptitude marks: The candidate with higher Legal Aptitude marks receives the higher rank.
  2. Higher age: If marks remain equal, the older candidate receives the higher rank.
  3. Computerised draw of lots: If the tie persists, a computerised draw determines the outcome.

For CLAT PG 2027:

  1. Higher age: The older candidate receives the higher rank when marks are equal.
  2. Computerised draw of lots: If candidates remain tied, the Consortium uses a computerised draw of lots.

The CLAT cutoff refers to the minimum marks required to gain admission to NLUs. For the 2027 admission cycle, General candidates are expected to score in the 87–98 range.

NLU Selection Process Through CLAT 

The CLAT 2027 selection process starts with the exam on 6 December 2026. After the results and merit lists are released, shortlisted candidates take part in counselling. The Consortium will conduct 5 seat-allotment rounds based on merit, preferences, and seat availability.
