CLAT PG 2027 is based on the mandatory subjects of the undergraduate law programme and includes Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.

The CLAT UG exam tests comprehension, reasoning, application of principles, awareness of current affairs and general knowledge, and basic mathematical skills. UG and PG follow separate syllabi, so candidates should prepare according to the subjects prescribed for the examination they plan to take.

2. CLAT Current Affairs and General Knowledge

CLAT Current Affairs and General Knowledge is based on passages of up to 450 words taken from news, journalistic sources, and other non-fiction writing. Questions test awareness of current affairs and general knowledge related to the information presented in the passage.

The official syllabus covers contemporary events of significance from India and the world, arts and culture, international affairs, and historical events of continuing significance.

The Consortium does not prescribe a fixed time period for Current Affairs, including General Knowledge, in the CLAT UG 2027 syllabus.

Candidates should therefore focus on major contemporary events and the broader areas specified in the official syllabus instead of following an arbitrary month-wise cutoff.

3. CLAT Legal Reasoning

Applying principles to given situations is central to CLAT Legal Reasoning.

The section contains passages of around 450 words that may cover legal matters, public policy questions, or moral philosophical enquiries. Questions require candidates to identify or infer rules and principles and apply them to different fact situations.

Prior knowledge of law is not required for CLAT UG Legal Reasoning. Candidates benefit more from accurately identifying the principle in the passage and applying it to the given facts than from memorising extensive legal provisions.

4. CLAT Logical Reasoning

CLAT Logical Reasoning focuses on arguments and their structure. The section contains short passages of about 450 words followed by one or more questions. Questions test the ability to analyse arguments, identify patterns of reasoning, and draw valid inferences.

5. CLAT Quantitative Techniques

CLAT Quantitative Techniques focuses on numerical information and its application.

The section contains short sets of facts, propositions, or textual representations of numerical information, followed by questions. Candidates need to derive information from the given material and apply mathematical operations.
