- A 3-Judge Bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud reviewed the rape and murder case of a postgraduate trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. The court formed a 10-member National Task Force to create a National Protocol for doctors’ safety, with an interim report due in 3 weeks and a final report in 2 months.
- The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development released the Revised Model Foster Care Guidelines 2024, allowing single individuals to foster and adopt after two years, removing the previous restriction to married couples.
