  • India is building a 1,643-km-long high-security fence along the Myanmar border, with ₹31,000 crore allocated. Naga and Kuki-Zo groups oppose it due to ethnic ties.
  • The Free Movement Regime (FMR) between India and Myanmar, allowing cross-border tribal movement up to 16 km, was suspended in February 2024. A new protocol in December 2024 restricts movement to 10 km.
