- MENINGITIS VACCINE – Nigeria has become the first country in the world to roll out a new vaccine (Men5CV) recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded by GAVI, the vaccine alliance, to protect against five strains of the meningococcus bacteria.
- DIRECT SATELLITE CALLS FROM SMARTPHONE – Chinese scientists have developed world’s first satellite series (Tiantong-1) capable of enabling smartphone calls without the need for ground-based infrastructure such as Base Transceiver Station (BTSs) or cellular towers.
- EXERCISE DUSTLIK – The Indian Army contingent departed recently for the 5th edition of India- Uzbekistan joint military Exercise DUSTLIK, to be held between 15th to 28th April 2024 in Tarmez, Uzbekistan.
- PORT RESTRICTIONS ON MALDIVES – Amidst the strained relations between India and the Maldives, India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has imposed restrictions on the export of essential commodities to the Maldives. This action entails that essential items categorized as prohibited or restricted can only be exported through four specific ports in India.
