At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Prime Minister unveiled the M.A.N.A.V. Framework to promote human-centric AI based on moral ethics, accountable governance, national sovereignty, accessibility, and validity in AI systems.

• The New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments were launched as a voluntary framework encouraging responsible, multilingual, and inclusive AI development, particularly benefiting the Global South.

• In Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited v. Union of India (2026), the Supreme Court cautioned that indiscriminate distribution of state “freebies” may undermine fiscal sustainability and long-term economic development.

• The successful qualification test of the Gaganyaan drogue parachute marks a major milestone in India’s human spaceflight programme, ensuring safe stabilization and descent of the crew module during re-entry.

• The Gaganyaan Mission aims to send three astronauts to Low Earth Orbit (400 km) for a three-day mission, making India the fourth country after the United States, Russia, and China to independently send humans to space.

• Phase-II of the Vibrant Village Programme was launched in 2025 to expand comprehensive border village development to 15 States and 2 Union Territories beyond the northern borders.

• Edge computing, highlighted at the India AI Summit, processes data near the source rather than centralized cloud servers, reducing latency, improving privacy, and enabling real-time AI applications.

• The Government announced Bio-AI Mulankur hubs under the BioE3 policy to integrate artificial intelligence with biotechnology through closed-loop research systems for faster drug discovery and genomics innovation.

• The Sudan conflict, ongoing since April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has escalated with reports of possible genocide in El-Fasher in the Darfur region.

• Sudan’s strategic location along the Red Sea and its role as a bridge between the Arab world and Sub-Saharan Africa make the ongoing civil war a significant regional security and humanitarian concern.
