JEE Main Mathematics Syllabus 2027: Unit-Wise Topics
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the JEE Main 2027 syllabus on 25 October 2026. Reports say Maths has no changes from 2026. Compare the table below with the official PDF, and skip any topic that is not in it.
This table groups the units into five areas.
|
Unit
|
Key topics
|
|
Algebra
|
Sets, relations and functions, complex numbers, quadratic equations, matrices and determinants, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, sequences and series.
|
|
Calculus
|
Limits, continuity, differentiability, applications of derivatives, integrals, differential equations
|
|
Coordinate geometry
|
Straight lines, circles, conic sections
|
|
Vectors and 3D geometry
|
Vector algebra, lines and planes in three dimensions
|
|
Trigonometry, statistics and probability
|
Trigonometric identities and equations, inverse functions, statistics, probability
|
Tick off each unit as you finish it. Mark the ones you find weak in a second colour. That way, you can see at a glance where to spend more time.

Unit-Wise Weightage (Estimated)
NTA does not publish weightage. Every figure below is an estimate from past papers. These estimates are based on previous-year JEE Main Paper 1 question papers. Actual question distribution varies across sessions and examination shifts. NTA does not prescribe fixed chapter-wise weightage.

Calculus, algebra, and coordinate geometry are useful priority areas based on historical question distribution. However, their actual weightage varies across examination sessions.
Compare units inside Maths only. Never skip a unit completely. The number of questions per unit shifts between sessions, and no unit is guaranteed.

Which Maths Topics Score Fastest?
Some topics give marks faster (our guidance):
- Quicker to score: Topics such as matrices and determinants, sequences and series, vectors, and basic probability can offer relatively manageable practice opportunities. Your accuracy and preparation level determine how quickly you can solve them.
- Need more time: definite integrals, differential equations, conic sections, and 3D geometry.
Lock in the quicker units first. They build speed and confidence. Then use longer practice blocks for the heavier ones.
How to Prepare for JEE Main Mathematics
Follow these steps in order:
- Learn each concept from the NCERT chapter. Then work through the solved examples.
- Write every formula in a notebook as you finish a unit.
- Practise 25-30 topic-wise questions with a timer.
- Solve previous-year questions after you finish each unit.
- After each mock test, group your wrong answers by cause: concept gap, calculation slip, or time pressure. Practise the most repeated cause first.
Add one daily habit. Solve one timed set of ten questions from a mixed topic list. This trains you to switch topics, as you must in the real paper.

Books and Resources
Keep your list short:
- NCERT Mathematics, Class 11 and 12
- One JEE-level problem book
- Previous-year papers
- Official NTA mock tests
Finish one problem book properly before you buy another.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Memorising formulas without knowing where they come from: Learn how each formula is built. You can then rebuild it if you forget.
- Practising only the questions you already find easy: Set aside time each week for your weakest unit.
- Taking mocks without reviewing them: Spend as much time reviewing your performance as you do taking the test.

Conclusion
The JEE Main mathematics syllabus covers key topics from Class 11 and Class 12, with calculus, algebra, and coordinate geometry as major focus areas. Balance your preparation across all syllabus areas. Use timed practice and mock-test analysis to improve accuracy and manage your time effectively. Practise under a timer, and review every mock test. Group your wrong answers by cause and fix the most repeated one. Check the latest NTA bulletin, then start with the units marked as quicker to score. Need help planning your preparation?
